What:              Webinar on the West Africa Power Pool (WAPP)

The African Development Bank will host a webinar focused on the West Africa Power Pool (WAPP) on 30th April 2024.

The webinar will bring together regional power pools in Africa, regional electricity regulatory authorities in Africa, senior government officials from Africa’s energy ministries, development partners, WAPP market players and a variety of other stakeholders.

They will discuss and learn more about the evolution and status of the West Africa Power Pool (WAPP), including highlights and challenges of WAPP and brainstorm solutions to addressing challenges.

There will be two sessions as outlined below:

1. Presentation on the evolution and status of WAPP (Key players, Highlights, Challenges, and outlook).
2. A panel discussion on the achievements and challenges faced by WAPP including on regional tariffs and payment system, as well as commercial arrangements and strategies to advance and diversify the market to move beyond bilateral contracts as a solution to some of the challenges raised.
